A handwoven Kashkuli Gabbeh with four small animal motifs placed on a soft ivory field.
Although it appears very simple at first, the field contains layers of natural white, ivory, beige and greige. These subtle shades create a rich surface rather than a flat, uniform color.
This rug invites you to enjoy the colors and variations of the wool itself. Its quiet, natural character is enriched by the depth of handweaving.
The Fine Weave of Kashkuli
Rooted in the nomadic culture of southwestern Iran, Kashkuli is a type of Gabbeh known for its relatively fine weave and delicate expression. It retains the rustic warmth and substance of Gabbeh, while closely worked yarns create a neater surface.
The simple, almost plain design brings the fine weave and texture of wool into focus. Up close, individual yarns reveal gentle, natural changes in color.
Approximately 19 mm thick, with the resilience and comfortable cushioning of wool.
