Oriental Moon is a specialist rug store with more than 5,000 Gabbeh and Persian rugs. Alongside our online shop, our warehouse showroom in Tsukubamirai, Ibaraki, Japan welcomes customers who would like to experience the rugs in person before choosing.
Visits are strictly by appointment. The showroom was originally established for wholesale customers. We also welcome private customers by prior arrangement, but cannot accommodate unannounced visits.
Our spacious showroom brings together Gabbeh, tribal rugs, Persian carpets and many individual pieces that are difficult to find elsewhere. Take your time comparing colours, sizes and styles, with enough space to see the rugs properly.
There are also pieces that have not yet been listed online. Whether you want to decide in person, choose together with your family or take a closer look at the quality, you are welcome to book a visit.
You do not need to be a rug expert. Our team will guide you through the differences and help you compare the pieces at your own pace. Experienced rug buyers also appreciate the breadth of the collection and the balance of quality and value.

We import directly, bringing in full containers several times a year to reduce costs. Our warehouse in Tsukubamirai provides convenient access from Tokyo and space to receive these shipments.
Our Iranian owner and store manager have spent more than a quarter of a century selecting, inspecting, cleaning and repairing rugs. Daily practical work has developed their ability to recognize differences in materials and craftsmanship.
Many fine Iranian rugs pass through Tehran. Our local office and staff coordinate sourcing and work with suppliers there.

We regularly ventilate, clean and inspect our stock, with pest-prevention measures to protect rugs during storage. We pay attention to their condition, including areas that are not immediately visible.
Our specialists offer free advice on rug placement and color combinations using photographs of your room. We make straightforward suggestions that respect your preferences and budget.
Purchases include a one-year repair guarantee. You can also contact us for care advice after that period. Please ask about the applicable guarantee terms and service arrangements.
We will explain the rugs and offer help, but will not pressure you to buy. Take the time you need to make a choice that feels right.

By train: change at Moriya on the Tsukuba Express for the Kanto Railway Joso Line. The store is approximately a ten-minute walk from Kokinu Station. Free station pickup is available by advance arrangement.

The moon has many expressions: a slender crescent, a bright full moon or a large reddish glow above the horizon. We chose the name with the wish to share handcrafted pieces that have a similarly captivating beauty.
