A distinctive Persian rug woven in Qom, Iran, with an exceptionally detailed pictorial design.
Flowers and birds fill a soft pastel-yellow field, surrounded by a border of varied animals. Peacocks, eagles, owls and waterbirds animate the center, while deer, horses, elephants, pandas and kangaroos appear around the edges.
The design combines playfulness and artistry, like a miniature painting translated into a rug.
Wool forms the base, with silk woven into birds, animals, flowers and other motifs. These silk details catch the light, changing subtly with the viewing direction and lighting.
The intricate Qom weave carefully defines individual feathers, animal coats, slender branches, leaves and small petals. Its craftsmanship becomes more apparent at close range.
The combination brings together the soft, composed texture of wool and the luster of silk. Warm colors unify the lively, detailed design.
It can serve as the focal point of a living or reception room, or be displayed on a wall as a textile artwork.
A fine handwoven Qom Persian rug, offering intricate craftsmanship and painterly beauty.
