This handwoven Luribaft Gabbeh depicts a large pomegranate tree against a quiet field of natural wool colors, blending gray, brown and ivory.
Red and orange pomegranates fill the branches, with green leaves and small blue flowers bringing vivid color to the subdued ground. The widely branching trunk creates an open, lively composition.
The pomegranate is a traditional Persian motif associated with abundance, prosperity and vitality.
The fine Luribaft weave carefully expresses slender branches, small leaves and subtle changes in the fruit's colors. Layered shades of brown and gray also give the background the depth and character of handweaving.
Measuring approximately 233 × 165 cm, it makes a natural focal point in a living room or in front of a sofa.
