Persian Rug (100% Silk) Kashan Antique 223 × 133 cm (FX-13188)

An antique Kashan rug in 100% silk, expressing the region's elaborate floral style through fine weaving. A flower-filled vase centers the ivory field, surrounded by branching trees and flowers of different sizes. The largely symmetrical arrangement gains movement and depth through subtle variations in the blossoms. Deep purplish red combines with indigo, pale blue, pink and yellow-brown in a harmonious palette softened by age. The silk pile changes in depth and sheen with the viewing direction, bringing flowers and leaves into focus as the rug is turned. Dense patterning, balanced colors and a commanding vase composition give it a distinctive presence for a living room or sitting room.

This antique Kashan carpet displays an exceptionally elaborate floral composition, rendered with the delicacy and refinement characteristic of a 100% silk weave. Set against an elegant ivory field, the design is centred on an ornate flower vase surrounded by flowering trees, scrolling branches and an abundance of finely detailed blossoms. Although the composition is based on formal symmetry, subtle variations in the flowers, leaves and colours create a remarkable sense of depth and natural movement. The palette is built around rich crimson and burgundy tones, complemented by deep indigo, soft blue, pink and warm golden-brown accents. Despite its decorative richness, the overall impression remains balanced and sophisticated, enhanced by the softened character that only an antique carpet can acquire over time. The silk pile responds beautifully to changes in light and viewing direction, producing delicate variations in tone and allowing individual flowers and leaves to appear almost illuminated. This changing appearance is one of the most distinctive qualities of a finely woven silk carpet. With its dense craftsmanship, harmonious colouring and commanding vase-and-flower design, this is a highly decorative and artistically accomplished Kashan carpet. It has the presence to become the focal point of a living room, reception room or other refined interior.
