Reflecting Eight Gardens of Paradise,
An Art Piece in Deep Green
Petal-like patterns radiate from the center over a deep green field
in this handwoven Qom silk rug.
Eight Gardens of Paradise — The Story of an Octagon
Its beautiful octagonal shape makes an immediate impression. The form recalls Hasht Behesht, or “Eight Paradises,” a Persian architectural concept in which eight surrounding spaces are arranged around a central space, evoking an earthly image of paradise.
The intricate motifs spreading in eight directions from the central medallion have a depth reminiscent of looking up at the ceiling of a mosque or palace. Layers of flowers follow the octagonal outline, drawing the eye outward and back to the center.
Color and Light
Deep green evokes the gardens of Persian imagery. Blue, ivory, pink, brown and orange accents add lively detail to the composed ground. Silk's luster changes the shading and colors beautifully with the light and viewing angle.
Design and Craftsmanship
Small leaf-like motifs, repeated flowers and intricate outlines reveal detailed craftsmanship. Fine ornament continues through the border, giving the octagon the presence of a complete little world.
Display Suggestions
Enjoy it on the floor or as a wall hanging or decorative textile. It brings an elegant accent to an entrance, bedside, the space before a chair or beneath a display table.
With its garden-like composition spreading in eight directions, this beautiful handwoven Qom silk rug suggests a story of good fortune and paradise in everyday life.
Exceptionally fine knotting, a velvet-like surface and the lustrous sheen of silk give this Persian rug an opulent presence. Its craftsmanship can be appreciated as textile art. Silk pile changes markedly with the viewing direction; try turning the rug to enjoy the effect that best suits your room.
