About this piece

Light and dark blue with almost black-brown form a balanced striped gradation. Lustrous pile changes noticeably in tone with the viewing direction, producing a silky sheen. Just over 18 mm thick, it has a soft, smooth wool texture.

Shekarlu is a fine grade of Gabbeh with a denser weave and carefully selected wool. The closely worked pile has an attractive luster and a smooth feel.
