About this piece
A finely woven rug from the Seirafian workshop in Isfahan. Ivory and brownish brick tones are complemented by navy, moss green and cyan blue. Its traditional medallion-and-corner layout is animated by flowing vines. Signed Iran, Isfahan, Seirafian, it has a silk warp and wool pile with silk highlights. The pile changes in tone with the viewing direction; turn it to find your preferred appearance. Handmade width varies from 214 cm at the top to 209 cm at the bottom, a subtle difference at this scale.
