Rug Cleaning
Handwoven Rug Cleaning Prices
Once we know the type and size of your rug, we can confirm the cleaning price. We do not add a premium for weave fineness, origin or age. A wool Persian rug from Qom or Hamadan is charged at the same rate per square metre.
No Increase to the Quoted Cleaning Price
- The basic cleaning charge depends only on rug type and size. It will not increase simply because we inspect the rug in person.
- No premium for a finer grade. Qom, Nain, Isfahan or Hamadan — the fineness of the weave does not change the rate.
- We discuss stain treatment and repairs with you first. After reviewing your photographs, we explain the proposed work and cost and obtain your agreement before proceeding. We do not add work without your approval.
- If anything differs from the quotation, we contact you before starting. If you do not accept the revised proposal, we return the rug without carrying out the work, with return shipping paid by us.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our rug-cleaning service.
Can the final price be higher than the quotation?
The basic cleaning price depends only on rug type and size and will not increase simply because we inspect it in person. If we recommend additional stain treatment or repairs, we explain the work and cost and obtain your agreement first. If anything differs from the original quotation, we contact you before starting. If you do not accept the proposal, we return the rug without carrying out the work and pay the return shipping.
How is the cleaning price calculated?
It depends on the rug type and its length and width, including fringes. For example, wool Persian rugs cost ¥15,000/m² and Gabbeh rugs ¥8,500/m², including tax. Rugs under 2 m² have a flat ¥18,900 charge. Origin and weave fineness do not affect the rate: Qom and Hamadan wool rugs are charged alike.
Does a finely woven Persian rug cost more to clean?
No. We do not vary prices according to origin or weave fineness, whether Qom, Nain, Isfahan, Tabriz or Hamadan. Wool Persian rugs are ¥15,000/m² including tax. Silk is a different material and is charged at ¥20,000/m².
Which types of rug do you accept?
We handle many handwoven and machine-woven rugs, including Gabbeh, wool Persian rugs, Wilton carpets, Chinese carpets, Japanese and Yamagata Dantsu carpets, and silk rugs. For silk and antiques, we confirm acceptance after examining photographs or the rug itself.
Can you treat mites and odours?
Optional services include moth and mite treatment (+¥1,200/m²), pet and animal odour treatment (+¥1,800/m²), mould odour and sanitising treatment (+¥1,500/m²), and musty odour treatment (+¥1,000/m²). We obtain approval before proceeding. Complete removal is not always possible, but we work towards the best achievable improvement.
What if I do not know the rug type or whether it can be washed?
Send a photograph. With 26 years of experience specialising in Gabbeh and Persian rugs, we can usually identify the type from photographs and prepare a quotation. If you are concerned about colourfastness, tears, moth damage, large stains or distortion, we will also advise whether we can accept the rug.
Are your detergents suitable for homes with children and pets?
We select detergents with the environment, children and pets in mind, and wash carefully using methods appropriate for the rug’s fibres and pile.
Can you repair fraying or damaged fringes?
Simple repairs to minor fraying or moth damage within 5 cm are included with cleaning. For larger repairs or fringe replacement, we assess the condition, provide a quotation and obtain your agreement before starting.
How is this different from washing the rug myself?
The appropriate method depends on the fibres, dyes and construction. Unsuitable home washing can cause colour bleeding, shrinkage or changes in texture. Our qualified staff assess each rug and use a cleaning process suited to it.
Can you always remove stains and odours?
No. Some stains, odours, discolouration and mould marks cannot be removed completely. We aim for the best possible improvement and discuss likely results when quoting. Stain-removal charges apply only when the stain is removed.
Do I pay for shipping?
Delivery charges are payable by the customer. Please ask when requesting a quotation and we will explain the cost. The packing kit is sent free of charge.
