No.49

In our eight-tatami-mat room, it sits quietly in exactly the place I had imagined. The design, colours and atmosphere are even better than expected. I think it will become increasingly at home over time, with a gentle presence rather than dominating the space. Our house is a 35-year-old single-storey Japanese home, and I had not expected a Persian rug to suit it so well.

The Mahi pattern from the renowned weaving city of Tabriz is sophisticated and elegant, and it suits a Japanese room beautifully. The large square format also works very well. Your before-and-after photographs show how one rug can bring a new sense of refinement to the room.
