Our Customer’s Feedback
The Appeal of a Large Gabbeh in Everyday Use
At 281 × 192 cm, this rug has a substantial presence. Its soft natural ivory palette keeps the arrangement feeling open and makes the room appear bright and spacious.
Some people associate Gabbeh rugs with strong colours and prominent traditional motifs. A natural ivory Kashkuli like this one also works beautifully with Scandinavian interiors, modern natural palettes and wooden furniture, fitting easily into a contemporary home.
Why This Arrangement Works So Well
- The natural ivory ground blends gently with the flooring.
- Colourful motifs provide accents throughout the space.
- The generous rug does not overwhelm the room.
- Its texture complements the wooden furniture.
- Daylight brings out the character of the wool.
- Space around the rug gives the arrangement an elegant, uncluttered feel.
A Favourite with the Family Dog, Too
As the photographs suggest, the family dog seems quite taken with the rug as well.
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven wool rugs with roots in the everyday life of Iran’s nomadic communities. Their substantial wool pile has a soft feel underfoot. Many families with pets appreciate their warmth in winter and comfortable texture throughout the year.
Natural wool has a distinctive texture that makes sitting or relaxing on the rug a pleasure.

From Oriental Moon
The photographs made a real impression on our team.
The rug fits the space even more beautifully than we imagined. This home reminded us how much a thoughtfully placed Gabbeh can bring to a room.
Soft light, the colour of the floor, wooden furniture and the natural ivory wool all come together in a calm, cohesive arrangement.
At the time of this article, the customer’s additional runner order had reached the cutting stage. We looked forward to completing it for them.
If You Find It Hard to Picture a Rug in Your Home
Oriental Moon shares many examples of rugs in our customers’ homes.
Is this size too large? How practical is natural ivory? Will it suit the furniture? Could the room feel too plain?
Real homes can make these questions much easier to visualise.
Photographs of a rug alone cannot convey all its appeal. That is why we also show how our rugs look in everyday living spaces.
