Amazon Pay Service Ending: November 2021 Notice

We expected to stop accepting Amazon Pay around the middle of November 2021.

Amazon Japan maintained restrictions on certain countries and regions. From December, its policy was to prohibit use of the service for sales of products made in North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Syria or Crimea, or containing materials produced there.

Amazon had already prohibited sales of products from restricted countries, including Iran, for several years. I understood the extension to Amazon Pay as a result of US sanctions. Such restrictions affect many aspects of daily business, often in ways that are not widely known in Japan, and I hope relations between the countries improve.

We regretted losing a convenient payment method that reduced the amount of information customers needed to enter. The circumstances were beyond our control, and we appreciated customers’ understanding.
